"Bums off Seats"

The Grampians Pyrenees Primary Care Partnership (GPPCP) is working with groups in the Central Grampians sub region on a VicHealth funded program, “Bums off Seats”, to increase participation in accessible, inclusive and sustainable community activity. Staying active and looking after your health is important to maintain wellbeing and independence.  Participating in locally based activities provides an opportunity to connect to your community, meet others and be active at the same time.

With a plethora of sport-based physical activities available locally “Bums off Seats” promotes participation in community singing groups which anyone can participate in. Wellbeing is hugely dependent on social connectedness; the more and closer connections with the environment around us, the better mental and physical health outcomes.
Community Choirs will be the focus of Carer’s Week Celebrations on Tuesday 21st October in the Grampians sub region.  The program will be looking at training leaders in the community to become singing leaders so groups can be formed and meet regularly in a number of areas in the region.

If you are interested in finding out more about the community choir or other areas the ‘Bums off Seats’ project is supporting please contact Katrina Toomey.
